Okemos, MI - The only way to eat Tuna is either by sushi or seared. The flavor is preserved keeping it's perfect taste! This is Nori & Sesame Seared Ahi from Gilbert & Blake. It is seared tuna, served with jasmine rice and stir-fried vegetables Topped with a wasabi & pickled ginger butter. The wasabi butter really complimented the tune's flavor very well. I would definitely enjoy getting this again! Enjoy!

Okemos, MI - What is that? Yeah, I said the same thing the first time I saw this. It is Osso Bucco from Gilbert & Blake, which is tender pork shank in a cilantro lime marinade with a mango mustard sauce. Reading it sounds great, but the looks of it, maybe not so. Well, you should try it. You know it wouldn't make the blog if it wasn't good. The meat was so tender, it basically just fell off. The sauce really helped to compliment the flavors in the meat. Since it was a pork shank, later I learned it is the the pig's ankle, it had a small gamey flavor. Very good, try it. Enjoy!

New York, NY - Did you enjoy the Bahn Mi? This is Bahn Mi with Cho. I'm not entirely sure what Cho is, but it kind of was like turkey. So this bahn mi sandwich is just like the last with pork in the BBQ sauce, cucumber, carrots, fresh cilantro, hot peppers, and the special mayonnaise sauce. I think I liked the other a little more because the cho took away from the flavor of the pork. However, it was still delicious! Enjoy!

Birmingham, MI - After having those first cupcakes from the Cupcake Station, you can't keep us away now. This is Boston Cream and Chocolate Cheese Cake. These are the perfect deserts! They are small, satisfying, and DELICIOUS! The one on the left is the Boston Cream. A vanilla cake with cream in the middle, and chocolate topping. Surprising, it wasn't that sweet, which was so nice. The cheese cake cupcake, was great. I'm glad I left that for last. I thoroughly enjoyed that one and would be happy to get that one again. It had a strong cheesecake flavor and nice and sweet! Enjoy!

New York, NY - By far, this is the best "sub" I've ever had. It is Vietnamese and is called Bahn Mi. My friend Fred took me to this little tiny place in China Town in Manhattan, I don't know the name of it, but they made Bahn Mi sandwiches. It can be made with different kinds of meat and also meatless. This one has pork cooked in some kinds of sauce, another sauce similar to a mustard, cucumbers, carrots, hot peppers (if you wish), lettuce, and fresh cilantro. Man, is this so good. I never would have found this place and ordered this if it wasn't for him. Thanks Fred! Thanks a ton! I ask for this in every Vietnamese place I go to, but they don't have it. Enjoy!

Birmingham, MI - O Thai food, my favorite. This is Bangkok Spicy Eggplant from New Bankgkok Bistro. This was the first time I had an eggplant dish and it was sooooo good! It was in the standard brown sauce, spicy of course, with lots of veggies as you can see, I added tofu, but the best part was the eggplant. I was skeptical at first, but it exceeded my expectations. The eggplant is deep fried, nice and healthy, and it was so soft. It basically melted in my mouth. I highly recommend it. Enjoy!

Birmingham, MI - Desert Time! It's time for some tasty deserts. From left to right, these cupcakes are Michigan Bumpy Cake, PB & C, Lemon Lust from the Cupcake Station. This place specializes only in cupcakes. The bumpy cake was pretty good. It was dark chocolate cake and topping with butter frosting as the bumps. I expected it to be sweeter than it was, but the taste was soft and delicate. The next, one of the best, the PB & C, was peanut butter and chocolate. Delicious!!! The last, you can't go wrong with lemon, it was the lemon lust. It was a vanilla cake with lemon frosting. Excellent! It makes you feel like a kid again. Enjoy!

New York, NY - Only in New York can you find Sri Lankan food. This was such a great find. My friend and I had never had Sri Lankan food before. It was not only uniquely presented, but the taste was also uncommon. The top picture was Fish Cutlet appetizer. It was very much like hush puppies, but with a heavy fish flavor. The main dish is the second picture, which was called String Hopper Katthu. It was similar to a fried rice with shredded, but pulled beef. The meat was prepared in a way I've never had before. It had lots of veggies in it as well, such as carrots, onions, and green peppers. The interested part of it was the sauce that you poured on it. In the second picture, you can see a bowl of broth basically. You poured it all directly on top of the fried rice dish. The flavor was a light and soft tasting beef broth. By itself, OK but not very good. In conjunction with the String Hopper Katthu, very good. I would love to try out some more Sri Lankan food. I hope I get the opportunity. Enjoy!

New York, NY - I've never had tacos such as these. My friend Fred took me to a little tiny Mexican restaurant in Spanish Harlem in Manhattan, and it was amazing! I had to order in spanish, which was fantastic. Not my spanish, just trying to order it. These tacos were so flavorful and freshly made. We had to take the subway way up to 90th street or something. I would gladly do this again. One taco was shredded pork and the other was ground beef with picante salsa. :) It was great! Enjoy!
Birmingham, MI - May I present to you Pad Veggie Curry from New Bangkok Bistro, a Thai restaurant that is turning into my favorite place to eat. This, no surprise, was delicious. It was tofu and a ton of veggies sauteed and cooked in coconut curry milk. Man, I'm salivating by just looking at it. Order and enjoy!

Troy, MI - This is Wild Mushroom Fettuccine from Papa Vino's. I think Papa Vino's is a chain, but I'm not sure. I wouldn't be surprised. However, the dish was still very good and worthy of the blog. It was not as saucy as I thought it was going to be, which was a little disappointing, but that's OK. The mushrooms, were very good though. It had three different kinds of mushrooms, which gave it a nice variety. It's an excellent vegetarian option. Enjoy!

New York, NY - This delightful and colorful dish is a Malaysian dish called Mango Chicken. I'm sure that's not the correct name, but that's what they called it. Have you ever had a dish made with a mango sauce? It's so refreshing and delightful. That's exactly what this dish turned out to be. The mango was a very soft flavor, but enough to know it was there. You can also see that it included lots of good veggies such as green pepper, zucchini, carrots, and pea pods. If you're checking out Malaysian, definitely check this one out. Enjoy!

New York, NY - Here's another round of lox and bagles from Russ' Daughters. This time it's Scottish Lox Bagel and Cream Cheese. For those of you who don't want the strong lox or fishy flavor, then the scottish lox I recommend. It only has a subtle lox and fishy taste, but of course it's fantastic! Enjoy!

New York, NY - This is the lox that I was talking about. This is belly lox on an everything bagel with cream cheese. Delicious! Salty, but delicious. Just be prepared to drink a lot of water after eating belly lox. I think it's the best! Enjoy!
